I
have been interested in the repair and maintenance of anything mechanical,
especially automobiles and motorcycles for as long as I can remember.
At the age of sixteen I started building a 'Street Rod'. The car was completely pulled down and rebuilt, I rebuilt a 1964 Corvette 365 horsepower engine and fitted it. After 3 yrs work I had completed building a 1929 “A” Ford Tourer Street Rod. This car was shown at Melbourne and Adelaide National Street Rod shows, winning trophies. I still own this vehicle, registered and occasionally driven.
In the late seventies I purchased a 1974 V8 Statesman at an auction, by the time the vehicle had travelled the 150 kilometres back home, it was leaving a trail of blue smoke behind. I decided that I would have to remove the engine and rebuild it. I started to remove the engine and bought an after market repair manual to help me with the finer points. I was very disappointed with the publication and thought I could possibly publish a better manual.
I decided that there was a need for an easy to follow workshop manual for the do it yourself person and a manual that would also be comprehensive enough for a professional mechanic to use, so I got to work producing my first manual. In 1980 I published this manual which covered Holden’s 1948 to 1963, this publication gave me enough interest to keep me involved with writing and publishing repair manuals. I now have my own publishing business "Ellery Publications", where we dismantle and rebuild various cars and components to help us bring you first class export quality repair manuals.
Up to date we have published over 50 different publications, plus a number of publications in the process of being finished. Our manuals are not only sold in Australia but exported to at least seven other countries overseas, including USA.
We are an Australian company that is committed to grow and employ people in Australia, both at our premises and the printing factory. Our publications are written and printed solely in Australia.
As it can be seen we are here to continue publishing repair manuals and technical publications for some time. We look forward to supplying DIY, enthusiasts and mechanics with reliable information on various vehicles for many years to come.
